TRANSPORTATION/PUBLIC WORKS–Contract Awarded for RoadImprovements in Hants County Smoother and safer travels are coming soon for residents andvisitors of Hants County. A contract worth over $1.5 million has been awarded to repavemore than 10 kilometres of Trunk 14, from New Ross Road northerlyto Gordon Shaw Concrete Limited in Windsor Forks. “Nova Scotia’s transportation network is growing stronger witheach road improvement project,” said Ron Russell, Minister ofTransportation and Public Works. “Better roads means easiertransfer of goods and services in our province, and safer travelsfor all motorists.” The contract was awarded on April 28 to Chapman Bros.Construction. Work will be complete by August 31. The Department of Transportation and Public Works highwaysdivision manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in NovaScotia. It maintains an inventory of 3,800 bridges and operatesseven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from districtoffices located in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
