Jackson fearful Donegal could suffer repeat of ‘flood devastation’

first_imgPOLITICS: Tim Jackson has called on Donegal TDs and Councillors to explain to the public what measures have been taken to avoid a repeat of last year’s flooding of large swathes of the county. Substantial damage was done to houses, businesses and farms when heavy rains caused numerous rivers to burst their banks over a two month period last year.Jackson, an Independent candidate in the last General Election, fears the county could see a repeat of the damage caused. The popular community activist told Donegal Daily, “Everyone talked about flood relief measures that needed to be carried out, but I think it’s crucial that we would now be given an account of the work done in that regard by our politicians and the Office of Public Works since those floods, so that we know where we stand as a county.“It’s quite possible we’ll see similar rainfalls this winter.“The last thing Donegal needs is a repeat of the devastation caused by the flooding, so I would encourage the public to seek answers to this question of what exactly has been done, and what remains to be done.”Jackson fearful Donegal could suffer repeat of ‘flood devastation’ was last modified: October 1st, 2016 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img read more
